The Very Best Of Rhonda Taumaranui born soprano Rhonda was born with a gift. Daughter to All Black Ron Bryers, Rhonda’s appre­ciation for music started at a young age. In 1972 she was the first recipient of the Marie D'Albini Scholarship at the Conservatorium of Music at the University of Auckland. She went on to study Opera under Dame Sister Mary Leo where she had notable success, but it wasn’t until 1981, on the Royal Variety Performance, that John Rowles introduced her as the “Voice of New Zealand” – a moniker that would stick with her throughout her career.
