The Jeff Healey Band is known for their high-energy live performances. Playing his Fender Stratocaster guitar flat on his lap, Jeff Healey has developed an instantly recognizable guitar sound and image. Blind since the age of one, he burst into the big time with his Platinum selling debut album See The Light [MOVLP1305] and the hit single “Angel Eyes” in 1988. His distinctive style placed him somewhere close to Stevie Ray Vaughan in the Blues-Rock pantheon. Any gig by Jeff Healey is a unique experience. The blind Canadian guitarist has developed his own vocabulary on Rock’s foremost instrument, so much so that the front rows of every concert are populated by players intent on matching the moves to the sounds. This concert was recorded at two Montreux Jazz Festival performances in 1997 and 1999. It features many Healey classics including “I Think I Love You Too Much”, “Angel Eyes”, “See The Light” and “Roadhouse Blues” These performances at Montreux see Jeff faced by a more reserved audience than perhaps he’s used to. But somehow this seems only to draw the best from him as, feeding off the propulsive energy supplied by long-time rhythm section Joe Rockman (bass) and Tom Stephen (drums), and sparring with second guitarist Pat Rush, he attacks a selection of self-penned songs and carefully chosen rock and blues covers.
