'This is 98 per cent shiraz with just two per cent cabernet from the Barossa, McLaren Vale, Clare and Magill Estate. Heady fragrance of spices and licorice with coffee grinds and dark chocolate and blackcurrants. The palate is a super-saturated mix of sweet American oak and dark chocolate and mocha fruit tinged with a slightly savoury finish. Poised and balanced despite its youth, it will be very good.' - 96/100. - Weekend West, Perth, 03 May 2014, by Ray Jordan.'From the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Clare Valley and Magill Estate, 98% shiraz and 2% cabernet sauvignon; it finished its fermentation in 100% new American oak hogsheads and was matured therein for 18 months. Peter Gago has commented it is not as 'Barossa-ish' as the '08, and it's true the bouquet has fragrant sweet and savoury spices, the palate with licorice and black fruits, oak riding high, but guaranteed to be relegated to second place as the wine comes into balance around 30' - 97 Points.- James Halliday - Published on 27 Jul 2014
