By Love Possessed

This unusual project for John Sturges stars Lana Turner as Marjorie, the sex-starved alcoholic wife of attorney Julius Penrose (Jason Robards Jr.), who suffers from impotence. She begins an affair with her husband´s law partner Arthur Winner (Efrem Zimbalist Jr.), whose own wife, Clarissa (Barbara Bel Geddes), is indifferent to him because she believes their marriage to be no more than a business deal. Arthur´s son, Warren (George Hamilton), is equally indifferent to his wishes, refusing to enter the legal profession and taking up with local prostitute Veronica Kovacs (Yvonne Craig). When Warren finally breaks off the relationship, Veronica makes false rape accusations, and he is forced to leave town. Stunned by this turn of events, Arthur decides to return to his wife, hoping to renew their relationship. The many contorted relationships soon result in financial irregularities and suicide.
