Sounding like a stuck record his general miserableness was only alleviated when she came across a new concept, the Glycaemic Index, which looked at how different food releases energy at different rates. Kate voraciously devoured all the books and articles which could enlighten her and the result was the now classic 'Go Faster Food', published by Vermilion in 2009. She has since become a well-respected food for fitness writer, has run workshops for the BBC and Sky Sports, and regularly contributes to 220 Triathlon, Running Fitness and Runners' World as well as to the Nationals. Kate also works as a consultant for brands including Pink Lady(R) Apples and outdoor fitness gear specialist Merrell.
