Adel Taarabt is a Moroccan player who plays for Queens Park Rangers as an attacking midfielder and can also be used as a winger. Taarabt began his playing career in France at Lens but made only one senior appearance before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 2007. Upon signing for Tottenham he was hyped as the next Zinedine Zidane but he failed to break into the first team at Spurs under Juande Ramos or Harry Redknapp either. After only seven appearances he moved to Championship side QPR on loan firstly in March 2009 and again in July 2009. On 1 October 2009, Taarabt scored a "wonder strike" in a match against Preston North End. He collected the ball on his chest inside the QPR half and dribbling 20 yards past three players and curled in a shot from 25 yards. This led QPR manager Jim Magilton to label Taarabt as a "genius" and the goal is seen as one of the Championship's finest. He was signed permanently for a reported 1 million in August 2010 quickly establishing himself at Loftus Road and becoming a favourite with the fans. This proved to be one of the bargains of the season as Taarabt went on to score 19 goals in 44 league appearances that season for the West London club. With his unpredictable skill and reputation for never giving the opposition defence an easy 90 minutes Taarabt went on to win the Championship Player of The Year and gained a place in The Championships best XI. In 2011, Taarabt's goals helped QPR gain promotion to the Premier League where he was tipped to flourish like he had done in the Championship. However QPR struggled in their first season back in the Premier League and Taarabt was unsettled by the arrival of Joey Barton at the club who was named club captain instead of Taarabt as well as constant links with a move to Paris Saint Germain and Napoli. Taarabt did not score a league goal until he struck in a 2-1 win against Arsenal in March 2012. He was also named man of the match and followed it up by scoring a second in a 1-0 victory over former club Tottenham three weeks later, a game which also saw him sent off.
