Every year, thousands of young people make a pilgrimage to Turkey, to visit a place where men fought and died almost 100 years ago. Why does Anzac day still hold such significance for Australians and New Zealanders? Why did the Anzac’s land at Gallipoli? Why, in fact, were Australians and New Zealanders at war in the first place? 25th of April 1915. Gallipoli was the first time Australians and New Zealanders fought in their own uniforms alongside their mates.
