The deadliest county in England Seasons 4–6 of the popular Midsomer Murders collected together for the first time! SEASON 4 1. GARDEN OF DEATH The Inkpen-Thomas family, owners of Inkpen Manor in Midsomer Deverell, announce that their memorial garden will no longer be open to the public. Villagers, led by shopkeeper Desmond Cox are furious about this ? the ailing Gerald Bennett, who bought Inkpen Manor from Naomi Inkpen when the family lost their money, built the memorial garden for the villagers. Barnaby and Joyce head off for the village meeting about the closure of the memorial garden where Gerald Bennett?s daughter Jane (Kate Duch?ne) makes an impassioned speech against the closure of the garden. Following the passionate exchange of opinions, Barnaby is faced with a double murder & soon discovers there?s more to these deaths than horticultural conservation. 2. DESTROYING ANGEL When Gregory Chambers fails to attend the funeral of his hotelier boss, the villagers of Midsomer Magna are alarmed ? all the more so because he also missed a promised performance of his Punch and Judy show. Gregory?s glamorous wife Suzanna seems unconcerned, but the residents begin a search of Strangler?s Wood, where the missing man regularly foraged for wild mushrooms. A severed hand is found, leading DCI Tom Barnaby and Sgt Gavin Troy to begin a murder enquiry, although there is no sign of the rest of the body. 3. ELECTRIC VENDETTA The discovery of a man?s naked body in the centre of a crop circle brings UFO fans flocking to Midsomer Parva and the field owned by Sir Harry Chatwyn. With a hole at the base of the spine, a chunk of hair missing, burn marks and a terrified expression, the corpse bears all the hallmarks of alien abduction. DCI Tom Barnaby and Sergeant Gavin Troy think stories of flying saucers are a smoke-screen for murder, but extra-terrestrial expert Lloyd Kirby is convinced otherwise. 4. WHO KILLED COCK ROBIN? An Irish stranger vanishes after being knocked down by Dr Burgess, on his way home from an evening?s drinking at the riding school owned by glamorous Spaniard Francesca Ward. DCI Tom Barnaby discovers the visitor is Sean O?Connell, a disgraced vet turned horse whisperer, then his search brings him face to face with old adversary Melvyn Stockard. Now the squire of Newton Magna, Stockard claims he is reformed, but Barnaby is not so sure, especially when he hears the former villain is involved with Francesca. 5. DARK AUTUMN When postman Dave Cutler is murdered on his early morning rounds, DCI Tom Barnaby and Sergeant Gavin Troy rush to the tiny hamlet of Goodman?s Land. The brutal killing rocks the backwater community, where community WPC Jay Nash is more used to dealing with traffic cones than slashed throats. With Jay?s help, the detectives discover that Dave offered more than a postal service to the female villagers ? and that there are several jealous husbands or jilted lovers who might have wanted him dead. SEASON 5 1. TAINTED FRUIT Death threats against Melissa Townsend, the beautiful but spoilt daughter of the manor, bring DCI Tom Barnaby and Sergeant Gavin Troy to the affluent village of Midsomer Malham. Melissa is blamed by some residents for causing the death of a local poacher by refusing to mend the leaking roof at his peppercorn rent cottage. Fearing that the death threats could be carried out, the detectives race to Malham Manor. But they are too late ? Melissa is dead by the swimming pool, a used syringe hanging from her stomach. As Barnaby and Troy investigate, they uncover a seedy world of adultery and deceit. 2. RING OUT YOUR DEAD “Ding Dong Bell, Vicar?s In The Well, Who Put Him In? Little Tommy Thin, Who Pulled Him Out, Little Tommy Stout.” The bell ringers at Midsomer Wellow are preparing for a National Striking competition but to retired Wing Commander Reggie Barton and other members of the community the noise made by the ringers are the bane of their lives. The animosity in the village is accentuated further when one by one the bell ringers are killed off leaving DCI Barnaby & Sergeant Troy to uncover who is responsible: a jealous husband, a disgruntled villager or a rival team from the competition. 3. MURDER ON ST. MALLEY'S DAY Jonathan Ekersley-Hyde, the headmaster of Midsomer Parva?s Devington School, is a living fossil of Victorian educational values, feeding an old feud by forbidding any interaction between the pupils and the local villagers. When schoolboy Daniel Talbot fails to cross the finish line of the annual St Malley?s Day race due to a fatal knife wound, Daniel?s father, scion of the school?s founding fathers, automatically points the finger at the village. Barnaby and Troy however, are more interested in the bizarre events of the schools Pudding club, a secret society open only to those elite students aspiring to the Diplomatic Service. 4. MARKET FOR MURDER Barnaby and Troy are called to the wealthy village of Midsomer Market when local stock broker Selwyn Proctor?s ?63 Alvis goes up in flames. On the surface this seems like a typical rural community, with the highest source of entertainment being the women?s reading club headed by upholding member of society Marjorie Empson. When she is found dead in her cottage this simple lifestyle becomes more complicated. They discover that the reading club is really a front for secret investment club meetings to discuss their latest strategies on the stock market. 5. A WORM IN THE BUD The ancient Setwale Wood has provided herbal remedies since before Henry VIII's dissolution of the monasteries when Midsomer Abbey was in its heyday. Now it is the subject of court action by villagers to prevent the impecunious owner of Abbey Farm, James Harrington, from cutting it down to raise cash. Leading light of the Save the Wood campaign is neighbouring farmer Simon Bartlett. The case goes before Causton Crown Court and, after the ruling, a fight breaks out between the two farmers. Barnaby and Troy find themelves involved on the very next day when the body of Simon Bartlett's wife is found in a pond in Setwale Wood. SEASON 6 1. A TALENT FOR LIFE In Malham Bridge, former socialite and feisty pensioner Isobel Hewitt is accused of assault by fellow fly fisher Margaret Seagrove. When Barnaby and Troy investigate the allegations they discover that all is not well on the Midsomer riverbanks. The investigation takes a more serious turn when two bodies are discovered in the river. Are they the victims of a chance attack by poachers or was there a more sinister motive? 2. DEATH AND DREAMS The quiet of Midsomer Worthy is shattered by the suicide of Martin Wroath. A gambler, drinker and depressive, the complex nature of his death attracts Barnaby?s attention. Wroath had received treatment from the local psychiatric hospital under the supervision of Dr Jane Moore. The Doctor is a widow who juggles her career with being a mother to her three children. Her ?Care in the Community? approach does not meet with the approval of many of the villagers. 3. PAINTED IN BLOOD Joyce Barnaby has enrolled in an art class that takes her to the village green in Midsomer Florey. The village is also under surveillance by Barnaby and Troy who are busy with ?Operation Pondlife?, an initiative designed to combat street crime. When Joyce finds the body of one of her fellow painters the two detectives start to investigate and uncover more than they had expected. With his wife as star witness, Barnaby is taken off the case and Troy continues the investigation alongside the National Intelligence Squad. 4. A TALE OF TWO HAMLETS The Smythe-Websters are a rich family whose wealth and power dominate the two local villages of Upper and Lower Warden Manor. The Head of the Manor?s nephew, Larry, is killed in an explosion which appears to be related to the recent making of a horror movie based on the village?s history. Larry?s Uncle was producing the film and sees the death as good publicity. Barnaby and Troy begin to wonder just how far the Smythe-Websters would go for more money and power? 5. BIRDS OF PREY Troy and PC Sarah Pearce are in Midsomer Magna investigating a wildlife crime while Barnaby follows up on the discovery of the car and body of Julian Shepherd in the river. Elsewhere Mallory Edmonton is keeping her husband Charles, who suffers from Alzheimer?s Disease, sedated and under lock and key in the attic. It transpires that Julian had money worries after investigating in Charles Edmonton?s secret invention. Charles dies the two detectives must act fast if they are to uncover what really happened.
