King Solomon's Mines ~ DVD

King Solomon's Mines is a 1985 action adventure film, the third of five film adaptations of the 1885 novel by the same name by Henry Rider Haggard. This version of the story was a light, comedic take, deliberately referring to, and parodying Indiana Jones (in which franchise actor Rhys-Davies appeared in two instalments). A classic hero’s journey, inspired by H. Rider Hagard’s rollicking 1885 tale of high adventure, King Solomon’s Mines sends rugged every-man Alan Quatermain (Richard Chamberlain, The Three Muskateers) into the heart of the African jungle in search of fortune and glory. Commissioned by Jessie Huston (Sharon Stone, Basic Instinct) to track down her missing father, Quatermain faces all manner of deadly animals, hungry cannibals and ruthless Nazis in order to find his man and uncover the lost treasures of Solomon.
