Bethany played 'store', keeping ledgers of imaginary transactions of purchases and sales. Add this to a soul with a Bugs Bunny-like personality and the result is an accountant with a sense of humor. Bethany holds two degrees. First, she has a PHD in the world's oldest profession. Yep, she's a housewife. Being completely comfortable with this title, Bethany understands the term 'economy' is Greek in origin (economos), and refers to a housewife shopping. The housewife is the most functional economist of all! - Making marginal decisions on the fly, based on her subjective values and resource constraint - trying to maximize the family's satisfaction from a fixed budget. Bethany also obtained a B.S. in Accounting with a minor in Law and Economics. She worked for five years in public accounting as an auditor, and two years in corporate accounting. While homeschooling her three children, Bethany provided her accounting skills to several nonprofit organizations. Her life's passion is to empower people through an understanding of simple financial and economic ideas and skills that will enable them to thrive financially. It is not the amount of money one earns, but what you do with it that really counts. When a person realizes they can create their own reality through mindful choice, that person is truly free. Bethany teaches that you must begin right where you are in the present moment. Then, you must take responsibility for your choices in making money, spending money, and saving money. You must create a healthy relationship with your money, and finally, stop pining for what you don't have but start enjoying what you do have. When you recognize you have a choice, "I can't afford it" becomes "that's not how I choose to spend my money." Choice and responsibility create freedom and power. Bethany currently lives in Colorado with her husband and three children.
