Ruth Pla-Bou (1940) born in Pretoria, South Africa, now lives in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Her lasting friendship with Mila developed through their mutual interests and family activities. Frieda Hilda Francesco (1925) born at Kareedouw in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, is a retired professor of Social Work, with lifelong love of the arts in all its facets. She started on this debut novel largely because of her continued and passionate interest in the effect of personal and world events on people.
