As a result, "Free In the Kitchen" was written to invite others to a positive, fun, and creative gluten free food adventure.Author BiographySallie Powell didn't start cooking until she absolutely had to. With a hungry husband and three young mouths to feed, she felt "doomed" to spend hours in the kitchen--until she added two ingredients to all her recipes: fun and creativity. Years later, these two ingredients would be essential to living a gluten-free lifestyle. With her daughter's diagnosis of celiac disease and her own intolerance of gluten, Sallie was overwhelmed by a kitchen full of food labels. But with determination and hope for a new beginning, the chains of the unknown dropped away. Writing new gluten-free recipes and rewriting family favorites became simple and fun. Sallie was "free in the kitchen" once again! An encourager at heart, Sallie loves to free others by helping to coordinate gluten-free menus for individuals and events. As a community service since 2012, she also enjoys sharing her recipes on Tallahassee's local CBS affiliate, WCTV. Her food journey has been deeply enriched by her husband, Bob, her amazing daughters and sons-in-law, and six very near perfect grandchildren.
