The bald eagle, the national bird of the United States of America is usually found near open bodies of water (due to the abundant supply of food) and old-growth forest. It prefers to nest in high, old-growth trees. These large birds can grow up to one metre long, have a wingspan of 2.40 m and weigh 7 kg. Fun fact: The bald eagle is the official animal of the USA.
