Travel from ranchlands and rolling foothills into the spectacular, rugged peaks of Banff National Park. Spend the night in Banff at your new hotel. Day 2: Banff – Lake Louise (B) Wake refreshed this morning and ready for your exciting morning tour of Banff. Your time will be spent enjoying the sights, taking photos, and participating in short walks to viewpoints. Learn about the 11,000 year old human history of the Bow Valley, see the Cave & Basin, now a National Historic Site, and be amazing by the stunning Bow Falls waterfall. Among the highlights are visits to the Hoodoos, Bow Valley Viewpoint, Surprise Corner, Lake Minnewanka and Bankhead: an abandoned mining town and the relic of Banff’s industrial past. Depart Banff early afternoon for a short drive to Lake Louise, where you can relax in your new hotel this evening. Day 3: Lake Louise – Jasper (B, L) Today you will leave Banff and board a luxury coach for a full-day trip along the Icefields Parkway, one of the most scenic highways in North America. This route is home to over one hundred visible glaciers, turquoise lakes and rushing waterfalls. At the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre, board an all-terrain Ice Explorer for an exciting ride onto the Athabasca Glacier. Step out onto the glacier and fill your water bottle with the freshest water you’ll ever drink. Continue to the Glacier Skywalk and tiptoe out onto a glass viewing platform suspended high above the Sunwapta Valley. Photo stops along the Parkway will be made at Bow and Peyto Lakes, the Crowfoot Glacier and the Athabasca Falls. This highway is renowned for sightings of bears, elk, moose and other exciting wildlife, so keep your camera handy! Spend the night tonight in your new hotel in Jasper. Day 4: Jasper – Kamloops (B, L) All aboard! After a delicious breakfast today you will jump on the Rocky Mountaineer for a scenic rail journey to Kamloops in the interior of British Columbia. Leaving Jasper National Park, travel the ‘Yellowhead’ route past the sprawling grandeur of Mount Robson; the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Follow the mighty Thompson River, the route of early fur traders, before arriving in Kamloops. Day 5: Kamloops – Vancouver (B, L) Today you will leave Kamloops and follow the Thompson River through Ashcroft, one of Canada’s driest towns. Pass through Rainbow Canyon named for its cliffs striped with pinks, greens and greys. Continue on to the Fraser Canyon, and watch water torrent past the canyon walls at Hell’s Gate. The last leg of the journey takes you through the fertile farming region of the Fraser Valley to arrive in the Pacific port of Vancouver later this afternoon. Day 6: Vancouver Free Day (B) Today is a free day for you to explore Vancouver at leisure. Blessed with a spectacular Pacific Rim location, Vancouver is a study in contrasts and cohesion. Nestled between the mountains and the sea, the city blends cultures and landscapes, allowing visitors to enjoy a modern, cosmopolitan city at the same time as being at firmly rooted in the great outdoors. Make sure you take some time to relax, you want to be prepared for the excitement that tomorrow is going to bring! Day 7 – 14: Onboard The ‘Princess Ruby’ (B, L, D) As you travel the tranquil waters aboard your 5 Star Luxury Cruise Ship, you will stop at the ports of some of the most iconic and historic towns in Alaska and Canada. Once you have disembarked, you can be as relaxed or adventurous as you like with optional excursions to spectacular wilderness and iconic landmarks. Ketchikan A popular destination along Alaska’s famed Inside Passage, Ketchikan is teeming with Native American culture. Home of the largest concentration of Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian people in the state, this extraordinarily beautiful city on Revillagigedo Island boasts the world’s largest collection of totem poles, and an equally impressive selection of museums and cultural centers featuring Native dance, carvings and artifacts. Ketchikan’s calm waters and surprisingly gentle climate make it a favorite of sports fishermen. Tracy Arm Fjord One of the most spectacular cruise destinations on earth, Tracy Arm Fjord is actually made up of two separate fjords. Both fjords are over 30 miles long and one-fifth of their area is covered in ice. With hundreds of waterfalls, epic glaciers and a huge variety of native wildlife, you won’t want to blink as you cruise past this natural wonder. Skagway As your ship approaches Skagway, you’ll see the town resting peacefully at the base of a river valley bordered by the Coast Mountains. The mountains, ranging from 5,000 to 7,000ft in height, seem to rise straight up from the saltwater fjord. Today, wooden sidewalks, old-fashioned saloons, quaint gift shops and horse-drawn carriages serve as reminders of the Alaskan Gold Rush days. Juneau Juneau is considered by many to be the most beautiful capital city in the nation. Checking in at just a little over 3,100 square miles, Juneau qualifies as the biggest American city – geographically, that is. The terrain is hilly and winding, and narrow streets present a small-town quaintness existing side-by-side with cosmopolitan sophistication. You’ll find great shopping, fine restaurants and superb museums. Victoria – British Columbia This picture-postcard town keeps its roots firmly planted in its English heritage. With quaint shops and cafes and a decidedly bohemian vibe, Victoria is a capital city that would make any province proud. Victoria is home to British Columbia’s best museums and bicycle tracks, as well as Beacon Hill, a park fringed by the stunning coastline. Day 13: Disembark Seattle Today your magical cruise will come to an end as you disembark in Seattle. Once you have disembarked you will be transferred to Seattle Airport for your international flight home to Australia. Day 14: Arrive Australia Arrive back in Australia. WHAT WE LOVE Alaska is far from a humdrum holiday destination. The things that you will see here will stay in your memory forever. An attempt to explore this vast and rugged state could take months, if not years. That’s why even the most intrepid explorers choose cruising as their means of experiencing Alaska in one convenient, all-inclusive package.
