In 'A Nightmare On Elm Street' (2010), a remake of Wes Craven's 1980s slasher horror classic, a group of suburban teenagers - Nancy (Rooney Mara), Quentin (Kyle Gallner), Jesse (Thomas Dekker) and Alan (Clancy Brown) - all attended the same nursery school when they were toddlers. Several of them were molested by the nursery's janitor, Fred Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley), who was subsequently burned to death in a fire by their enraged parents. Now the horribly disfigured, razor-fingered Freddie is out to wreak his revenge upon the teenagers by slicing them up in their dreams. As long as they are able to stay awake, they can protect one another - but as soon as they succumb to sleep, there can be no escape. In 'Final Destination' (2000), having boarded an aeroplane ready to embark on a school trip to France, Alex (Devon Sawa) suddenly has a premonition that it will explode. He tries to convince his friends to disembark, causing so much trouble that he and six others are eventually ejected before take-off. Shortly afterwards, standing in the departure lounge, they see the plane destroyed in a mid-air explosion. Later, after three of the ejectees die in strange circumstances, Alex becomes convinced that death feels cheated and is now trying to collect back the debt. Can Alex convince his other friends of this before they too meet their untimely ends? In 'House of Wax' (2005), a remake of the 1953 film, a road trip to one of the biggest college football games of the year takes a turn for the worse for Carly (Elisha Cuthbert), Paige (Paris Hilton) and their friends when they decide to camp out for the night before heading to the game. A confrontation with a mysterious trucker at the camp site leaves everyone unsettled and Carly has her hands full trying to keep the peace between her boyfriend, Wade (Jared Padalecki), and her hot-headed brother, Nick (Chad Michael Murray). They wake up the next morning to find that their car might have been deliberately tampered with. At the risk of being stranded, they accept a local's invitation for a ride into Ambrose, the only town for miles. Once there, they are drawn to Ambrose's main attraction - Trudy's House of Wax, which is filled with remarkably life-like wax sculptures. But as they soon discover, there is a shocking reason the exhibits look so real. As the friends uncover the town's dark secrets, they are stalked by a mysterious killer and find themselves in a bloody battle for survival. The group must find a way out of Ambrose - or become permanent additions to the House of Wax.
