Transmission Impossible ~ CD ~ Warren Zevon
This triple CD set collects together three fascinating radio broadcasts of live shows performed by Warren during his heyday, one each from the 1970s, the 1980s and the 1990s. Kicking off is a quite brilliant performance the great man gave at The Record Plant in Sausalito, CA, in 1978, shortly following the release of his acclaimed Excitable Boy album, which remains, for many fans, his finest record. Second up is Zevon’s classic Boston gig in 1982, performed at the city’s Metro Club hot on the heels of his The Envoy album, a record which did not perform well commercially, but which remains a favourite among fans. Finally, this collection features Warren’s show from 1992 at the Empire Concert Club in Cleveland, Ohio, a stop on his promotional tour for the Mr. Bad Example album, for which he was backed by Canadian indie kids The Odds. With all shows featuring superb audio sound quality and the performances among Zevon’s best ever, this delightful set will doubtless become an essential inclusion in every fan’s collection.
