The Vickers Machine-gun saw widespread use with all the nations of the British Empire, and despite their early lack of equipment the Indian Machine-gun troops soon had their share of this reliable weapon. Despite an indigenous arms industry India relied on supplies of Vickers Machine-guns from Britain and it wasn’t until after the end of the war that India started manufacturing the gun themselves. Indian Machine-gun Companies were organised much like their British counter-parts, with the platoons parcelled out to the Rifle Companies for support. Contents: 1× officer 1× NCO 1× rifleman 4× gunners 4× loaders 4× spotters 4× Vickers MGs 1× small base 4× medium bases In Flames of War The Specialist Machine-gun troops of the Indian Infantry underwent extensive training in a variety of tasks, and like the British Machine-gun Corps could fire Bombardment with their Vickers. The British Army fielded its Vickers medium machine-guns in separate battalions to take maximum advantage of the barrage tactics developed in the First World War. HMG teams may fire as Close-support Artillery. They may fire artillery bombardments out to 48”/120cm, twice their usual range. Range in the machine-guns as artillery and use the Artillery Template to determine what they hit.
