Product Info With over 250 years of experience in glassmaking, Riedel revolutionized simple glassware when Claus J. Riedel, 9th generation, designed the first collection of varietal-specific stemware in the 1970s. Working with experienced tasters and winemakers, Riedel discovered that wine enjoyed from his glasses showed more depth and better balance.  He laid the groundwork for stemware that was purposefully designed as well as beautiful, and made according to the Bauhaus design principle: form follows function.  His masterpiece 'Sommeliers' set the precedent for a range of series, designed specifically to enhance the wine's harmony. Each Riedel in the family's history has contributed to the company's success and driven the brand forward, with new ideas and daring design concepts.  Riedel is renowned for quality and purpose, and offers products that are not just glasses but tools for wine enjoyment. VINUM (1986) is Riedel's basic stemmed series. This series was created by Georg J. Riedel, based on the handmade Sommeliers range, in order to make Riedel varietal-specific glassware more accessible to the general consumer. A Riedel 'Sauvignon Blanc workshop' was held in 1997 following the longest and largest search for this wine's optimum glass shape.  The tall, slim glass offers freshness and intensity on the nose, a harmonious palate, with an excellent balance of fruit and acidity, and a mineral finish. Vinum are machine-made in lead crystal, in Bavaria, Germany. All Riedel glasses are dishwasher safe. Lead crystal, Includes 2 wine glasses.
