After being crowned the winner of the very first season of The Voice Australia in 2012, Karise Eden broke not one, but two Australian records by having 4 of the Top 5 songs on the ARIA singles chart that week with “You Won't Let Me”, “Stay with Me Baby”, “Hallelujah” and “I Was Your Girl”. The last time one act occupied so many top spots was back in April 1964 when The Beatles held the top 6 positions. The second record is something which no-one has achieved before, 3 debuts in the one week within the Top 5. That same week, she had an astonishing 8 songs in the ARIA top 40 with “You Won't Let Me”, “I Was Your Girl”, “Nothing's Real but Love” and “Stay with Me Baby” each reaching ARIA Gold certification and “Hallelujah” being certified Platinum. Her album My Journey debuted at #1 on the ARIA album chart and held that top spot for an incredible 6 weeks, going on to achieve double platinum sales. Eden first began singing in public at the age of 13, when she first learnt to play guitar playing traditional folk and bluegrass. Her musical influences don’t come as a surprise with the likes of Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse and Bon Jovi all listed amongst Karise’s favourites. These influences were evident to everyone who fell in love with her during her time on The Voice. 2013 saw Eden road testing new material via performances at Blues Fest and small shows around Sydney and the Central Coast. The new songs were received so well live that it inspired her to get back into the studio and record. Those studio sessions culminated in her brand new album ‘Things I’ve Done’ which is set for release on October 17. At just 22 years of age, Karise is proving to be not only one of the most extraordinary voices of our time, but a talented songwriter with all but one of the 12 tracks on the album being written or co-written by Eden. Working with the likes of Jon Levine (Nelly Furtado, KNaan, Selena Gomez), Nick Radovanovic, Joe Zook (Pink, Keith Urban, Birdy, Jason Derulo and Katy Perry), Eric Dubowsky (Flume, Flight Facilities, Chet Faker, Emma Louise), Wayne Connolly (Boy & Bear, Silverchair, You Am I, Sarah Blasko) Jon Hume (Matt Corby, Lisa Mitchell, Denzel Park) & Mark Lizotte (Diesel), Karise has created an incredible new album that won’t disappoint. Not only has Karise been kept busy finishing her album ‘Things I’ve Done’, she has also been preparing for the arrival of her first child which she can now announce is due at the end of this year. “I am super happy about finally releasing my own album and also becoming a mum soon. It's a really exciting time for me.” Karise said of her news.
