Better Over Time (Vinyl)

This new album by BigXthaPlug marks a pivotal moment in his career. After broadening his musical horizons, the Texas rapper reaffirms his hip-hop identity while embracing new sounds. This project doesn’t seek to pit styles against one another, but rather to show how each experience enriches his music and shapes the artist he is becoming.

At the heart of the album lies a reflection on the principle of cause and effect and the aftermath of success. Once goals are achieved, visibility comes hand in hand with pressure, isolation, and responsibilities. The album’s lineup reflects this duality: on one hand, a strong rap foundation featuring artists like GloRilla, Lil Yachty, Babyface Ray, Loe Shimmy, Ro$ama, and Belly Gang Kushington; on the other, bridges to R&B and pop thanks to the voices of Leon Thomas, Ava Max, and Fridayy.

Visually and artistically, the album is permeated by the image of the chrome butterfly. This motif symbolizes transformation, resilience, and the sometimes high cost of evolution.
