The Bonsai Custom Timber Bed Frame in Victorian Ash Oak gives the timber room to stand out. Its broad headboard and matching panelled foot end are finished with bevelled edges, adding depth to the otherwise simple rectangular shape. The detail is understated, but it gives both ends a well-finished look and draws attention to the grain across the panels.

The solid oak structure feels substantial, while the open space beneath the bed keeps it from looking heavy. Thick pine slats support the mattress, and your choice of size, clearance and finish lets you make the most of Bonsai’s balanced proportions in your own room.

Choose how your mattress sits.
With the sit-in option, the bottom 2cm of the mattress rests inside the frame, leaving a timber edge visible around it. The flush option raises the mattress base to the top of the side rails, so the mattress sits on top of the frame rather than dipping into it, giving the bed a cleaner outline.

Choose the space underneath.
Under-bed clearance ranges from 5cm to 35cm, measured from the floor to the underside of the side rail. It is the open leg height beneath the frame, so choosing more clearance gives you extra room for cleaning or storage without changing the style of the headboard.

Choose your finish.
Tinted lacquer: Choose from light, natural-looking shades, warm mid-tones and deeper colours. The tinted lacquer adds colour and seals the timber with a smooth protective coating, while natural variations in grain give each bed its own character.

Livos Kunos natural oil upgrade: Livos Kunos Natural Oil Sealer uses natural oils, including linseed oil, to deepen the timber’s colour and grain and create a water-resistant finish. Livos describes its coatings as “chemical-free”; if you need an allergy-friendly finish, ask us for the ingredient information to check against your individual sensitivities.

Timber and Mattress Support

Solid Victorian Ash Oak forms the borders, side rails, legs and supporting frame. The headboard and panelled foot end combine timber veneer panels with solid oak framing, bringing together broad grain surfaces and the bevelled detail that defines Bonsai.

• Solid pine slats: 90mm wide × 35mm thick, spaced approximately 70mm apart for airflow beneath the mattress.
• Single and Double: 11 slats, without centre support as standard.
• King Single: 12 slats, without centre support as standard.
• Queen: 12 slats with centre support beneath them.
• King and Super King: 12 slats with centre support and two additional support legs reaching the floor.
• Optional reinforcement: Heavy-duty centre support can be added to Single, King Single and Double when ordering.
• Combined weight capacity: Up to 380kg for Double, Queen, King and Super King bases.
