The Bonsai Custom Timber Bed Frame takes a simple panelled design and adds a thoughtful finishing touch: bevelled edges around the headboard and foot end. The angled edges catch the light and give the panels depth, while straight side rails and square legs keep the overall shape clean. Made entirely from pine, the frame has the warmth and natural variation that make timber furniture so easy to live with.

A matching foot end gives the bed a complete outline, with space beneath the frame for cleaning or suitable under-bed storage. The mattress sits within the timber surround, supported by thick pine slats, for a practical bed that looks just as considered from the foot as it does from the head.

Choose how your mattress sits.
With the sit-in option, the bottom 2cm of the mattress rests inside the frame, leaving a timber edge visible around it. The flush option raises the mattress base to the top of the side rails, so the mattress sits on top of the frame rather than dipping into it, giving the bed a cleaner outline.

Choose the space underneath.
Under-bed clearance ranges from 5cm to 35cm, measured from the floor to the underside of the side rail. It is the open leg height beneath the frame, so choosing more clearance gives you extra room for cleaning or storage without changing the style of the headboard.

Choose your finish.
Tinted lacquer: Choose from light, natural-looking shades, warm mid-tones and deeper colours. The tinted lacquer adds colour and seals the timber with a smooth protective coating, while natural variations in grain give each bed its own character.

Timber and Mattress Support

Bonsai’s headboard, foot end, side rails, borders and legs are solid pine, with no veneer. Solid pine slats support the mattress, with gaps between them allowing air to circulate underneath.

• Solid pine slats: 90mm wide × 35mm thick, spaced approximately 70mm apart for airflow beneath the mattress.
• Single and Double: 11 slats, without centre support as standard.
• King Single: 12 slats, without centre support as standard.
• Queen: 12 slats with centre support beneath them.
• King and Super King: 12 slats with centre support and two additional support legs reaching the floor.
• Optional reinforcement: Heavy-duty centre support can be added to Single, King Single and Double when ordering.
• Combined weight capacity: Up to 380kg for Double, Queen, King and Super King bases.
