Designed for butterfly rearing at home in classrooms or for nature study this professional butterfly habitat cage offers a stable square shape that sits upright without rocking giving caterpillars and chrysalides a secure environment. Five fine mesh panels allow generous airflow while the clear vinyl viewing panel gives children students and families a memorable way to observe the full life cycle from caterpillar to chrysalis to emerging Monarch Painted Lady or Black Swallowtail butterfly. The tall wide design measures 15.7 x 15.7 x 23.6 inches when opened and provides room for up to two large milkweed plants helping newly emerged butterflies spread and dry their wings safely. A large zipped side opening makes feeding care and release simple and the collapsible pop-up frame folds flat for compact storage between uses. This reusable insect habitat also includes a quick start guide to help you begin raising butterflies with confidence. Plants are not included. Instructions 1. Take care when opening the large tall monarch butterfly tent. After removing the elastic strap from around the circle the cube cage may spring open suddenly so allow plenty of space and move breakable items away first. 2. After opening the net cage the PVC window may show creases from folding. To smooth them more quickly warm the PVC with a hair dryer for about 5 minutes or place the PVC in warm sunlight to relax the wrinkles. 3. Always close the cage door so the zips meet at the top centre. If a caterpillar is resting on one side of the zip this allows you to open the other side instead. 4. Clean the mesh cage after a disease outbreak or at the end of the season by soaking it in a 5 bleach solution using 19 parts water to 1 part bleach for about 20 minutes. The cage can be soaked in a bath or laundry tub. 5. Rinse the butterfly habitat with water and let it dry in the sun. Hang it on a clothesline or place a weight on the floor so it does not blow away. 6. When folding the cage for storage place your hands on opposite upper corners and press one corner inward to fold the cage flat. 7. Store the cage flat in a wardrobe under a bed behind a sofa or in another dry storage space.
