Technical Details
The EdgeHD 0.7x Reducer for the 11" model by Celestron boasts a meticulously crafted 5-element optical design, tailored specifically to uphold the flat-field performance of the EdgeHD system. This is no ordinary reducer; it maintains sharpness from edge to edge whilst providing ample back-focus, guaranteeing compatibility with an extensive array of imaging accessories and camera configurations. This results in speedier imaging and a broader field of view.
Key Features
- 5-element optical design
- Maintains sharpness from edge to edge
- Provides ample back-focus
- Compatible with an extensive array of imaging accessories and camera configurations

Advanced Optical Glass and Coatings
High-index optical elements, including extra-low dispersion and rare-earth lanthanum glass, provide excellent contrast and minimise chromatic aberration. All air-to-glass surfaces are fully multi-coated to maximise light transmission and improve colour accuracy. Blackened lens edges further reduce internal reflections, enhancing contrast and overall image clarity.
Full Frame Imaging Capability
With large diameter lens elements and a 60mm clear aperture, the reducer produces an optimised 42mm image circle suitable for full-frame sensors and large CCD cameras. It threads directly onto the 3.25" rear cell of the EdgeHD optical tube, reducing mechanical vignetting and enabling the use of off-axis guiders and other advanced accessories.
Precision Engineering and Durable Construction
The housing is CNC machined from aluminium to ensure precise alignment and spacing of the optical elements, delivering consistent optical performance. Threaded metal covers are included on both ends of the lens assembly to protect the optics from dust and scratches when not in use.
Versatile Imaging System Integration
When paired with the Fastar capability of the EdgeHD system, this 0.7x reducer provides an ideal intermediate focal length between the native f/10 configuration and optional f/2 imaging setups. This versatility allows astrophotographers to tailor their equipment for different targets and conditions, making the EdgeHD platform one of the most complete and adaptable imaging systems available in its class.
