Bonobo (Simon Green) returns with Distance In Static, out via Ninja Tune.
The album features a typically striking cast of collaborators including Arooj Aftab, Joy Crookes, Nilüfer Yanya, Ichiko Aoba, Nicole Miglis and Aanya Martin. Spanning recording sessions in Los Angeles, Tokyo and London, the album blends lyrics in English, Urdu and Japanese with historic Iranian samples, guzheng recordings and Green’s signature production. Much of the record was completed during a retreat to Broken Arrow Ranch.
Marking the culmination of more than 25 years as one of electronic music’s defining voices, Distance In Static follows Bonobo’s acclaimed run of releases, including ARIA Top 10 album Fragments. Across his career, Green has amassed billions of streams, sold more than 900,000 records, collaborated with artists including Erykah Badu and Damon Albarn, and earned seven GRAMMY nominations.
Black double 140g vinyl LP housed in a 6mm spined sleeve with printed inners and art-paper insert. Design and Art Direction by Trevor Jackson
