Gravest Gravy (Vinyl)

The Cramps' legendary October 1977 sessions at Ardent Studios with producer Alex Chilton finally see the light of day on Gravest Gravy. This collection of unreleased studio material captures the raw energy of the classic lineup featuring Lux Interior on vocals, Poison Ivy on guitar, Bryan Gregory on guitar, and Nick Knox on drums, with two tracks showcasing Chilton's organ work. Hand-selected and mixed by Lux and Ivy decades ago before being shelved, these rippin' versions of early Cramps staples have been cut from analog source tapes and expertly mastered in Nashville.

The same sessions that produced the band's first two Vengeance Records releases in 1978 proved remarkably fertile, yielding far more material than initially released. While songs like Human Fly and Lonesome Town eventually found their way onto 1979's Gravest Hits EP and beyond, Gravest Gravy unearths additional tracks from these crucial early recordings, offering fans a deeper window into the band's formative creative period. This lime green Rough Trade exclusive pressing is a rare opportunity to hear the Cramps at their origin point, captured in pristine studio conditions with one of rock's most visionary producers.
