About this product
180gm Vinyl Reissue!
Junkyard is the third and final full length studio album by Australian post-punk group The Birthday Party.
Originally released in 1982, it was inspired by American Southern Gothic imagery. Critic Ned Raggett (AllMusic) called the album a 'scuzzy masterpiece, with Nick Cave's now demonic vocals in full roar."
A totally uncompromising album that exists purely on its own terms, Junkyardwas listed at Number 17 in the 2010 book 'The 100 Best Australian Albums' by Toby Creswell, Craig Mathieson and John O'Donnell.
This limited edition release also includes a bonus double A side 7" - 'Release The Bats' / 'Blast Off', two tracks recorded in April 1981 with Nick Launay and not included on any album. Pressed on high quality 180gm black vinyl, Junkyard rightly holds an important place in Australian music history.
