The Kirsten Custom Timber Bed Frame in Victorian Ash Oak pairs broad timber panels with long, open cut-outs in the headboard and foot end. Those openings break up the solid shape and let the room show through, while the straight edges keep the whole design neatly balanced. The higher foot end gives the bed a finished look from every side, with plenty of grain on show across both ends.

Solid oak side rails, borders and legs provide a sturdy structure, supported by thick pine slats beneath the mattress. The space under the frame keeps the bed looking lifted and makes it easier to reach underneath, with your choice of clearance allowing you to balance its appearance with the way you use your room.

Choose how your mattress sits.
With the sit-in option, the bottom 2cm of the mattress rests inside the frame, leaving a timber edge visible around it. The flush option raises the mattress base to the top of the side rails, so the mattress sits on top of the frame rather than dipping into it, giving the bed a cleaner outline.

Set the clearance.
Choose from 10cm to 35cm beneath the side rails. This is the open space from the floor to the underside of the rail—the exposed height of the legs—not the height of the mattress. A lower setting keeps the bed closer to the floor; extra clearance gives you more room for cleaning or suitable storage boxes.

Choose your finish.
Tinted lacquer: Choose from light, natural-looking shades, warm mid-tones and deeper colours. The tinted lacquer adds colour and seals the timber with a smooth protective coating, while natural variations in grain give each bed its own character.

Livos Kunos natural oil upgrade: Livos Kunos Natural Oil Sealer uses natural oils, including linseed oil, to deepen the timber’s colour and grain and create a water-resistant finish. Livos describes its coatings as “chemical-free”; if you need an allergy-friendly finish, ask us for the ingredient information to check against your individual sensitivities.

What Goes Into Your Bed

The side rails, legs and borders are solid Victorian Ash Oak. Timber veneer panels sit within the solid oak borders of the headboard and larger foot end, giving the broad surfaces a smooth, coordinated grain while the solid frame provides the structural support.

• Solid pine slats: 90mm wide × 35mm thick, spaced approximately 70mm apart for airflow beneath the mattress.
• Single and Double: 11 slats, without centre support as standard.
• King Single: 12 slats, without centre support as standard.
• Queen: 12 slats with centre support beneath them.
• King and Super King: 12 slats with centre support and two additional support legs reaching the floor.
