Paul Stanhope’s Requiem won the APRA/AMC Art Music Award for best choral work in 2022. Interweaving the traditional texts with contemporary poetry by four female poets, Stanhope offers an uplifting and ultimately life-affirming music experience that brings together consolation, connection to country, commemoration and celebration.
This world premiere recording featuring the Sydney Chamber Choir and soloists Chloe Lankshear and Richard Butler captures the beauty, strength and emotion of the music. ‘This is a major contribution to Australian choral music and deserves not only the standing ovation given it at the end but wide dissemination.’ – Sydney Morning Herald
