On the 20th Anniversary of the album, “Sleeps Like a Curse” by The Panics is available for the first time on vinyl. Reissued and pressed in Australia by Perth’s Love As Fiction Records on coke bottle green vinyl (Limited Edition).
Originally released in 2005, this album captivates with its lush, cinematic sound and introspective lyrics. Featuring standout tracks such as "My Best Mistake," on release the album went on to become the band's first ARIA charting album and was nominated for album of the year at 2005's J awards.
On the album, The Panics Jae Laffer says – “Sleeps like a curse was the panics digging deep and stepping up our songwriting game. It was a kind of coming of age for the band. We were drawing deeply from our time in Manchester and Perth equally, with all the band members finding their strengths and putting them proudly on display. “sleeps like a curse” is the centrepiece of our early albums and a favourite of the band”.
"Sleeps Like a Curse" was recorded in Sydney at Megaphon studios and released in 2005. The album was produced by Tim Whitten (The Clouds, Powderfinger, Art of Fighting, The Go Betweens, The Necks, 78 Saab and The Smiths). Audio for the vinyl release remastered by Adam Dempsey Mastering and includes printed inner sleeve and fully restored and updated cover artwork.
