Suitable for both still and video applications, this lens provides extraordinary optical performance from maximum magnification through to infinity focus. Boasting a remarkable 1.4x maximum magnification ratio, this lens is also compatible with the SEL14TC and SEL20TC teleconverters, which increase macro magnification to 2x and 2.8x respectively, opening up new applications and extraordinary details. Handheld shooting is often considered impossible for high-magnification macro, but thanks to a powerful optical stabilisation system, the 100mm f/2.8 G Master Macro OSS makes handheld work remarkably rewarding and stress-free. Stabilising in X, Y, Pitch and Yaw axes, and incorporating focus adjustment during exposure to control for depth movement, this lens gives photographers an unprecedented level of assistance for hand-held macro shooting.
Optically Extraordinary
Four XD Linear motors drive a floating focus system that allows quick, tenacious acquisition and tracking for single shots, or rapid actuation for focus bracketing, quickly achieving in seconds what might take half an hour by hand. The optical system itself is carefully corrected for spherical and chromatic aberration, ensuring crisp, detailed images on the highest-resolution sensors.
Durable and Reliable
In addition, the front lens element features a fluorine coating, which makes it easy to remove fingerprints, dust, oil, and other contaminants from the lens surface.
