Survivor, The

When a 747 jetliner crashes and explodes, the inferno kills everyone onboard except the pilot (Robert Powell) who miraculously walks away from the wreckage dazed but unscathed.

Tortured with guilt and unable to explain the crash, he sets out with the aid of a young psychic (Jenny Agutter) and a priest (Joseph Cotten) to overcome his memory loss and unravel the mystery of the disaster - and in the process, unlocks a nightmare of madness, murder and beyond-the-grave supernatural horror.

Based on the bestselling novel from famed horror specialist James Herbert - and directed by iconic UK thesp David Hemmings - this atmospheric shocker delivers heart-stopping chills alongside the largest and most complex pyrotechnics stunt ever staged down-under - all lensed by Oscar winning cinematographer John Seale.

The Survivor stands proudly as the most expensive Australian film of its time - and unquestionably one of Ozploitation's finest creepfests.
