A wide timber ledge traces the mattress on the Tokyo Custom Timber Platform Bed Oak, giving the bed a generous outline while keeping its height visually low. Above it, the broad rectangular headboard provides a continuous sweep of grain, with a simple shape that echoes the clean horizontal lines below. The recessed plinth supports the platform without exposed legs, preserving Tokyo’s calm, Japanese-inspired proportions.

Solid Victorian Ash Oak gives the platform and supporting frame their strength, complemented by a timber veneer headboard panel and substantial solid pine mattress slats. The combination creates a bed that feels substantial without elaborate detailing: its appeal lies in the broad timber surfaces, the precise platform edge and the contrast between the taller headboard and low base. Your chosen finish brings a different depth and tone to each of those surfaces.

Keep the platform look.
The mattress sits within Tokyo’s surround, leaving the broad timber ledge visible along the sides and foot. Its low plinth is part of the standard design; if you need a different base height or mattress arrangement, include those requirements in your custom-quote enquiry.

Choose your finish.
Choose a lighter tone to reveal the platform’s natural grain, or a deeper stain to give its broad edge and plinth a more pronounced outline.

Tinted lacquer: Choose from a wide range of oak colours, from light, natural-looking shades to warm browns and deeper tones. The lacquer colours and seals the timber with a smooth protective coating; black and white finishes are available at an additional cost.

Livos Kunos natural oil upgrade: Livos Kunos Natural Oil Sealer uses natural oils including linseed oil to deepen the grain and create a water-resistant finish with a satin sheen. Livos describes its natural coatings as “chemical-free”; for an allergy-conscious choice, its fully declared ingredients help you check suitability for individual sensitivities.

Natural differences in grain and tone give each oak bed its own character, so the same finish can vary subtly between pieces.

A Substantial Platform, Built to Support

Tokyo’s platform surround and supporting timber frame are solid Victorian Ash Oak. The broad headboard incorporates a timber veneer panel, presenting the grain across its uninterrupted surface while the solid oak base supplies the structural strength.

Heavy-duty solid pine slats form a firm supporting base, with gaps for airflow beneath the mattress. The support system is matched to the bed size:

• Slat dimensions: 90mm wide × 35mm thick, with approximately 70mm between slats.
• Double: 11 solid pine slats, without centre support as standard.
• Queen: 12 solid pine slats with centre support beneath them.
• King and Super King: 12 solid pine slats with centre support and two additional support legs reaching the floor.
• Optional reinforcement: Heavy-duty centre support can be added to Double when ordering.
• Combined weight capacity: Up to 380kg for Double, Queen, King and Super King bases.
