Celebrating 30 years of Texas’ acclaimed fourth studio album, White on Blonde returns for its first reissue in three decades.
Released in February 1997 into a musical landscape running on Britpop swagger and laddy energy, Texas’ landmark fourth LP, which is certified 6x platinum in the UK, was the absolute opposite: a record that embraced the band’s love of soul, trip-hop and more, and turned it into a catalogue of emotionally-resonant, radio-ready hit singles.
A UK number 1 album featuring five top 10 singles, including “Say What You Want”, “Black Eyed Boy”, “Halo” and “Put Your Arms Around Me. Nothing about any of it was expected, but that was precisely what turned it into magic.
Remastered at Abbey Road Studios, this 2CD anniversary edition features the original album alongside an extensive collection of demos, rarities, B-sides, remixes and live recordings.
Highlights include the “Say What You Want” Wu-Tang single, the 1997 BRIT Awards performance featuring Method Man and Mary Anne Hobbs BBC sessions. Presented in a 6-panel CD pack, the edition includes a booklet featuring rare and unseen images of the band and liner notes from Peter Kay.
